For TinyMCE, 2024 was all about advancing collaboration, education, and AI. According to the State of Rich Text Editors 2024 report, 40% of respondents highlighted collaboration features as essential for their organizations, with 42% prioritizing AI-assisted writing enhancements. Building on these insights, 2025 is shaping up to be another milestone year as we refine the WYSIWYG editor experience and roll out innovative features to keep web content dynamic and responsive.
TinyMCE features to look forward to in 2025
As professionals work across different regions, effective collaboration is essential for productivity. Learning management systems like Moodle, ecommerce tools like Shopify, and messaging platforms like Rocket.Chat rely on integrated, high-performing components. At TinyMCE our mission for 2025 is to empower users to craft rich, engaging content effortlessly, wherever they are in the world.
Making AI Assistant more powerful
TinyMCE’s AI Assistant is already a powerful tool, offering integrations with OpenAI, Azure AI, Google Gemini, and Amazon Bedrock. TinyMCE’s AI-powered editor allows users to generate, rewrite, correct, and translate text directly within the editor using predefined prompts, which developers can customize to fit their needs—all within a UI that eliminates the need for external tools. This year, we plan to level up AI-driven content creation by expanding customization options, enhancing predefined prompts, and redefining in-editor assistance. It gives users smarter tools to work faster and create more effectively.
Expanding collaboration tools
As a global remote team, we understand the nuances of asynchronous collaboration. In recent years TinyMCE introduced features like Comments, Mentions, and Revision History, all perfect for remote work. In 2025, we’re stepping it up with tools designed to streamline team editing. Soon users will be able to see suggested corrections directly in the rich text editor, fostering smoother collaboration.
Pushing media optimization further
We’ve already started the year strong with our January release of Image Optimizer, powered by Uploadcare. This feature boosts image performance and responsiveness across devices and browsers. But we’re not stopping there. As we build on our partnership with Uploadcare, we’re developing a new plugin that extends the Image Optimizer enhancements to videos and other file types. It will boost load times and performance for media across all content types. With this, TinyMCE aims to redefine the speed and reliability of rich text on websites.
Reviving the full page feature
2025 isn’t just about innovation; it’s about listening to our users and enhancing what they value most. We heard you, and this year, we are bringing back full-page editing from TinyMCE 5 as a revamped plugin. It was previously a favorite among email messaging systems for crafting detailed HTML messages. Though removed with TinyMCE 6, its comeback will offer a modern, updated tool for creating vibrant, full-page HTML content directly within the editor.
The future of rich text editors
Enterprises face constant challenges with evolving technologies and shifting infrastructure needs. That’s why we’re committed to making TinyMCE easy to implement, customize, and use. While technology trends shift, one thing stays the same: organizations will always need a rich text editor that’s flexible, fast, and adaptable. With TinyMCE you get flexibility, support, and customization to build your software with confidence.
