TinyMCE is participating in MLH's Global Hack Week with 5 exciting challenges, an exclusive workshop, sticker giveaways, and a chance to win a TinyMCE T-shirt. Join the fun!

TinyMCE is thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with Major League Hacking (MLH) by participating in Global Hack Week for Open Source, happening from October 4 - 10, 2024! This exciting event brings together developers, hackers, and tech enthusiasts from around the world for a full week of learning, building, and collaborating. As a trusted name in rich text editing, TinyMCE is proud to be part of this innovative community.

Last year, we saw over 80 incredible projects built using TinyMCE during MLH’s Hackathon League, providing a wealth of inspiration for participants this year. As we gear up for this year’s Global Hack Week, we’re excited to bring even more engaging challenges, hands-on workshops, and opportunities to showcase your creativity using TinyMCE. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or just getting started, there’s something for everyone.

Here’s what we have in store for you during the event:

TinyMCE challenges: Test your skills!

We've designed five unique challenges that will put your coding and content management skills to the test. Each challenge is built around TinyMCE, the world’s most trusted rich text editor, and will help you explore its potential for building dynamic and engaging content experiences. Sign up for a 14-day free trial and experience the full power of TinyMCE with premium plugins.

Challenge lineup:

Basic TinyMCE setup challenge

Install and set up TinyMCE in a project from scratch in a framework of your choice. Perfect for beginners who want to dive in.

Enhance your RTE in under 5 minutes with TinyMCE’s open source plugins

Enhance your project and integrate two to three TinyMCE plugins. Choose from options like Autolink, Full Screen, or Table to add extra functionality to your editor.

Level up TinyMCE with accessibility or spellcheck magic!

Choose between improving your editor's accessibility with the Accessibility checker or integrating the Spellchecker plugin to ensure content is inclusive and error-free.

Revision History challenge

Version control for content is crucial. In this challenge you’ll explore TinyMCE’s Revision History plugin, which allows users to track changes and revert to previous versions of their content.

Integrate AI Assistant with TinyMCE in 3 steps

Enhance your editor by integrating an AI Assistant into TinyMCE. Choose from providers like OpenAI, Azure AI, AWS Bedrock, or Gemini to bring AI-powered features directly into your content creation workflow.

TinyMCE workshop: Build a customizable Rich Text Editor for a Content Management System

In this workshop, participants learn how to set up and customize TinyMCE to create a powerful and flexible Content Management System (CMS). From basic editor setup to adding advanced features like AI-powered content assistance, accessibility, and version control, this session will guide you through creating a rich text editor tailored for managing and creating content in a CMS.

TinyMCE free stickers

We know how much hackers love swag, so we’re giving away TinyMCE stickers to everyone who participates in the challenges and workshop! These fun, high-quality stickers are the perfect way to add some flair to your laptop and show your support for TinyMCE.

Win a TinyMCE t-shirt

As if that’s not enough, we’re also giving away a TinyMCE t-shirt to one lucky participant! By completing any of the five challenges or attending the workshop, you’ll automatically be entered into a drawing to win this exclusive shirt. Not only will you be showing off your TinyMCE skills, you’ll also be rocking some awesome gear.
